 High School Bigs

The High School Bigs program is one of our site-based mentoring initiatives where volunteers experience the convenience of an established location for time spent with their mentee, and the children in the program enjoy the comfort and security of meeting in an established setting.

What do High School Bigs do?

Bigs and Littles in the High School Bigs program enjoy working on homework, playing games, going to the library and reading books, doing arts and crafts - all sorts of activities that build a friendship that lends itself to meaningful conversations on topics such as behavior, the importance of academics, and pursuing goals.

It's a great way to teach teenagers the importance of giving back to others, and their participation can be counted as community service hours which are required by many schools, colleges, and universities.

Commitment: 1 hour, 1 time a week during the school year

Big Couples

A great option for couples that would prefer a shared experience as opposed to each having their own Little.

What is a Big Couple?

As a Big Couple through Big Brothers Big Sisters, you and your spouse or long-term partner can both become Bigs to a Little in our program . You can all do things together and/or you can each share time with the Little individually. This is a great way to spend time together while also changing the life of a child. And, the child benefits from having a Big Brother and a Big Sister!

Mentor Together

There isn't a better way to volunteer than to do it with your spouse. By being a Big Couple you can help impact a child's life without sacrificing time with your spouse.

Commitment: 4 hours, each month for 1 year.

 African-American Mentoring

All kids need someone to relate to. This program pairs African-American children with African-American mentors who provide additional support and help them see they can achieve anything they want to in life.

Mentoring Brothers
Big Brothers Big Sisters has a special online resource for African-American mentoring relationships, called Mentoring Brothers.

Fraternities Making a Pledge
Big Brothers Big Sisters is fortunate to have the devoted support of three major African-American fraternities. Alpha Phi Alpha, Kappa Alpha Psi and Omega Psi Phi have each developed unprecedented initiatives within their brotherhood to get more men involved as both volunteers and donors.
